Financial planning week – share the dream

This week is Financial Planning Week. The theme for this year is ‘Share the Dream’ with the next generation - the invisible money generation (4-18 year-olds), for whom the digital economy is the norm.

The Financial Planning Association (FPA) has launched a new eBook to help Aussie parents (grandparents, teachers, aunts and uncles), have money conversations with kids. The eBook is full of ideas and activities to help teach kids the value of real money, when money is often invisible in today’s digital world.

Something you might also find interesting is the Share the Dream research report which has insights into how Australian parents are raising the next generation - the ‘Invisible-Money Generation’. The report highlights that two thirds of Australian parents believe digital money is making it harder for children to grasp the value of money. Those who have sought advice from a financial planner have the most frequent money conversations with their kids and are most likely to believe their children are equipped for today’s digital money world.

The report offers new insights into our nation’s financial capability and readiness to share the dream with the next generation.
